The Role of New Media in Marketing

With the current trend and the use of different social media such as Facebook and Twitter in the different aspect of life such as communication, it is to no surprise that there are a lot of people using these sites in today’s lifestyle. What will be the most surprising thing is if you see a teenager who does not hold an account of these communication tools.

I have been given an opportunity to attend a seminar prepared by the Graduate Studies of University of Santo Tomas. The symposium was about the application of new media in Project Development entitled “The Role of Multi-media in Marketing”. The topic on my opinion was on track for the very fast development of ways on how to market your product or to show off your services to the people. By the use of Social Media, you can reach different people, create a faster way of delivering your product, create more innovate ideas and many more to explore.

The speakers on the symposium are:

• Ms. Charie Villa - Head of News for ABS-CBN Regional Network Group and Head of ChoosePhils.com
• Ms. Mylene Abiva - President & CEO FELTA Multimedia Inc.
• Ms. Lexi Schulze - ANC's Cityscape host and commercial model.

They had provided good insights on how to use social media as a mode to reach out your target people, and effectively on how to attract new ones. I agree with them. Provided with a good network and ad presentation, content and approach, one can effectively earn more patrons and make money then.

They have also given out things to think too like, “How can you stand up in the Internet?”, “What are the things that you should do to innovate”, “What are the things that we should share that is of value”, and “Be vigilant for false information around the web.”

Ms. Charie also had given me some ideas on how to provide a good image on blogging by the way of transparency and honesty. On the side of Ms. Mylene Abiya, She has given us wonderful tips on how to work your business with the social media on the internet. And from Ms. Lexi Schulze, from one of her talk show on ANC, is that, you should have a passion of what you are doing, how to be realistic on how to work with your potential and passion, and how important the Peso(money) is on building your own business and profile.


With that being said, although there are different setbacks and negative in social media, it is still in the power of human ability to be able to see what those negativity are, and we the people are the one responsible on what we do in the internet. Information are the very foundation of what we know and that information should be always honest and clear, and not to be used for cheating and for personal goal. Don’t be matured, be a kid, kids are always curious about things.
