The Weird and Wonderful

Another sleepless night again with a normal midnight in a normal situation even if it is 12/21/12 (They say its the end of the world.) And I am about to discuss again something that people knew me would post sooner or later. Now, I am thinking if I make another blog of different niche and put my previous post there. But I was thinking that it would be an additional work on my part. Well anyways, read this and tell me what you think. :D

What is Weird?

Of a strikingly odd or unusual character; strange. It is based on the perception of an individual whether he or she sees something that is not normal or unusual thing from his or her point of view. But what is the universal standard of being weird or being normal based on? It seems to be broad that few people can make an answer of that. I too tried, research different books, looked over the net, asked people of degree, but ultimately ended up with just few small information. Is being so called weird a wonderful thing? It depends upon the level of being "unique". Why? simple, there are bad and good in all the things we select who we want to be.

What is Wonderful?

I guess this is self explanatory. It is the state of a person or object or any other subject that we found marvelous or admirable in some sort of level. Again, it depends on the perception of the person who is judging.

Weird and Wonderful

Is there by chance that weird and wonderful be at the same characteristics? The answer should be obvious, YES! Both are perception of the mind and can be a trait of the object in focus. There are a lots of them in the world. Like how marvelous scenery it can be despite the weird natural or man-mad construction design they have.

This could be the same as being an otaku or being an avid anime lover.

We otakus are very much fond at reading mangas and watching different genres of anime. With that, the tendency is that we can have this so called 8th grader syndrome on which we live on our own world, sometimes being too dramatic or too much fantasy. But that is not the only tendency that we turn out to be. We are adapting cultures of different country especially on Japan which anime originates. We say "Itadakimasu" before eating and "Gochisosama" after eating. This is how Japan culture is when eating. It is much like a prayer for thanking for the blessings on their table.

Now, I have listed the benefits of being an otaku since there are much more fun facts about us.
  • Another interesting part of being an otaku is we learn how to watch  listen and read subtitles at the same time making our brain as coordinated as possible
  • We learn how to draw faster with little guide as possible especially the anime-style on which trends in the Philippines now.
  • We can act different moods just by copying what our favorite characters are in a much faster pace. We know how to be a cute-killer, how to be much more cuter, sexy in a way that no one gets offended, and much more acting that is not seen on a normal television show.
  • Being creative and resourceful especially during Cosplay events. We much like copy the character's dress code and traits. We also make them ourselves especially to those Cosplayers that have a limited budget. And making those costumes are no joke.
  • We are great singers too, being able to sing on a three language (Native, English and Japanese). And I know Filipino people who are a very good singer too! (haven't meet them yet but dreams to meet them)
  • We learned Japanese by simply watching anime.
  • Of all the traits, we are also a great source of jokes as we have a wide sense of humor. Influenced by the anime and manga that we already watched and read.
  • Broader and open minded people we are. Why? With different topics and genre the Anime and Manga world give us, we learn by the life of different characters and we began to learn from them and value the meaning of life and existence.

So by chance that you are an otaku and somebody says you are weird, just say that we have our own definition of being normal and site one of the facts there to that person. Example, ask him o her if he or she can learn Japanese just by watching. Or ask them if they can read, listen and watch at the same time a television show. You are a unique person, you shouldn't be discourage. Just be yourself and don't mind other people. You have a much more open mind. Don't turn your huge open gate into a open door. I know you get me.

As for other people, we all have our own perception or insights about the things around us. Just because other people are acting much differently than what you do. All of us have no right to judge others. Chances are, if one of us calls someone weird, we don't basically know what that particular person can do. We could at least respect one another.

Lastly, all I could say is that, what people think are theirs alone. We are different individuals that have their own world inside of them. Maybe, they are most comfortable being there and enjoy what they are doing. We all have something that we commonly have, it is our uniqueness. And I say, Anime Fans are not Weird, we are unique and we have our own originality in some way or another. :D
